Our Technology

Ocular Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye.   With OCT, each of the retina’s distinctive layers can be seen, allowing us to map and measure their thickness. These measurements help with diagnosis and provide treatment guidance for glaucoma and retinal diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

Slit Lamp Photography

Slit lamp photography allows us to document the front structures of your eyes under high magnification.  Potentially blinding conditions such as pterygium and eyelid cancers can be monitored in detail with this technology allowing us to treat them early. It is also a great tool to manage many causes of dry eyes.

Pachymetry

This is a measure of the thickness of your cornea.  Corneas usually thin over time in patients with glaucoma or keratoconus, so this is an important tool in managing these and other diseases.

Digital Retinal Imaging

This technology takes an image of the back of your eye.  This test is a good screening test for many diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy but gives less detail in these areas than the OCT.

The big picture of your eyes

Here at Eyes by Design, we look at the bigger picture of your eyes – not just your sight!

We save and record your images for future reference so that we can check these results against future scans.

Measuring changes in function over time is the best way to pick up early changes in disease in the future, even if there is no disease on the day of your first visit.

This is very important because you are not aware of most eye diseases that cause blindness in the early stages and the damage that they cause is permanent.

Early detection and treatment is the only way to prevent blindness from these conditions.

We go the extra mile for complete eye health care.
